Policewoman allegedly commits suicide over failed marriage promise in Ghana
Tragedy befell the Ghana Police service as one female officer identified as Peace Agbemefo was on Monday found dead in her room after allegedly shooting herself in the throat with an AK 47 rifle.
Confirming the painful death, the Garu District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alexander Tieku told Graphic Online on Tuesday, that preliminary investigations showed that the 31-years-old deceased had a relationship problem.
According to ASP Tieku, the deceased’s action may have been triggered by a failed marriage promise made to her by her fiancĂ©. He said the lifeless body of Peace was found by one of her colleagues when she went to her house to check on her.
He said when the colleague arrived at the deceased’s house and after several knocks on the door did not elicit any response, she called for a carpenter to force open the door only to see Peace lying in a pool of blood and holding the gun.
ASP Tieku said the body has been deposited at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital pending a post-moterm and discloses that the police were still investigating the incident.
